Active Transportation Resources
Cycling – as well as walking, skating, rolling of all kinds - reduces fossil fuel dependency, increases social inclusion for all ages, and promotes active, healthy lifestyles.
Here’s some resources to help you tap into the benefits!
Bike Map – Use this map to find the best routes for you. The City and province are working together to make cycling safer, more connected and more enjoyable, with new active transportation infrastructure. This map will be updated as new bike paths are created over the coming years.
Charlottetown Cycling Handbook - The handbook includes information on why cycling is important and how to get the most out of your bike rid. It also contains the regulations that need to be followed on PEI as well as tips for proper cycling safety and etiquette.
Bike Friendly Businesses – Find out which Charlottetown businesses offer discounts for customers who come by bike!
Bike Rack cost-sharing initiative – Know a business that needs a bike rack out front? Refer them to this program, which will cover 50% of the cost, and provide a locally-made 4-bike rack in a standard design, for them to install.
Bike Lockers – If you cycle-commute to downtown, and want more protection for your bike and gear than a standard rack provides, the City has installed single-bike lockers at the Fitzroy Parkade (130 Fitzroy St), available for rent at $20 per month. Access is by unique key code for maximum security.
Take your Bike on the Bus! – Most urban T3 buses are equipped with Bike Racks on the front, to support long-distance car-free commuters. Check out the video for how to use load & unload your bike quickly an easily.
