Charlottetown City Council has unanimously agreed to sell 0.89 acres of property located behind the Cody Banks Arena at a purchase price of $158,000 for the proposed development of a new school.

The Province of Prince Edward Island recently approached the City to purchase a portion of the property behind Cody Banks Arena in order to construct a school to replace Sherwood Elementary School. A motion to approve the sale, presented at the Council’s monthly meeting on August 12, was deferred so that Council could meet with provincial representatives and obtain additional information before making a decision.

At a Special Meeting of Council held today (August 20) Council voted to proceed with the sale.
