Charlottetown Fire Department Birthday Parade Service Ends
Posted on 06/08/2020
The Charlottetown Fire Department is ending its birthday parade service as call volumes have returned to normal and businesses and workplaces have reopened.

Although no formal program was in place, the Charlottetown Fire Department was able to help more than 40 city residents celebrate their birthday or special event with a fire truck visit during the period of COVID-19 restrictions regarding gatherings. Those residents ranged between the ages of 3 and 90.

“The drive-by program originally commenced in another jurisdiction, which the Charlottetown Fire Department then adopted. It was always a pleasure putting a smile on residents’ faces on their birthday,” said Charlottetown Fire Chief Randy MacDonald. “We were very happy to support an initiative that encouraged people to celebrate at home, while following the guidelines and restrictions put in place by the Chief Public Health Officer.”

The Charlottetown Fire Department would like to thank all the residents who contacted them to be part of their special day.
