City Pools Open for the Season

The City of Charlottetown’s Parks and Recreation Department would like to inform residents that the recreational community pools will be opening for the season tomorrow, June 29 2021.

The Victoria Park Pool and Splash Pad will opening tomorrow, June 29 and will operate seven days a week from 11 a.m. to 7:45 p.m. Admission to the Victoria Park Pool is free.

The Simmons Pool will also open tomorrow, June 29. The pool will operate from 1 p.m. until 7:45 p.m., seven days a week. Admission to the Simmons Pool is free. At this time there will be no lane swims taking place.

Please note that the City pools will close early on Canada Day, July 1. On Canada Day, Victoria Park pool will be open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Simmons Pool will be open from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Due to the policies and procedures set by the CPHO, both pools will operate on a limited capacity and swims will be split into one hour time frames. All users will be required to sign in with the gate attendant and provide their name and telephone number for contact tracing before entering the pool area.

Victoria Park pool will be limited to 35 individuals per swim and Simmons Pool will be limited to 45 individuals per swim. There will also be a separate entrance and exit at both pools. Signage will be posted.

Children under seven years of age must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times, including while in the water. Children between the ages of seven and 13 must be accompanied by a responsible adult while on the pool grounds.

Participants are requested to shower and arrive ready to swim before entering the pool area, but showers and change rooms will be open for single-person use. Washrooms will be limited to one person per use. When using any public pool, the public is required to maintain social distancing and maintain proper etiquette with relation to coughing and sneezing.

City staff will continue to monitor these facilities and the City requests that all measures be followed and thanks the public for their cooperation and understanding. If the public does not adhere to these procedures, further restrictions could be placed on these facilities.
