Islander Family Fun Day

Celebrate Islander Day in the Capital City with free, family-oriented activities on Monday, February 15. Islander Family Fun Day offers opportunities for residents to take in family swims and skates, movies, basketball skills camps, performances by Silly Robbie, and more.

All activities listed below are FREE to all participants. 

Pre-registration is required for all in-person activities. Registration will be begin Tuesday, February 9 at 10:00 a.m. for the family swims, Silly Robbie performances, horse & wagon rides, and art kit pick-up. Registration for the family skates, basketball skills camps, and Cineplex movie screenings will begin Wednesday, February 10 at 10:00 a.m. 

COVID-19 guidelines will be in place for all in-person activities. Facility-specific rules are listed below and will be communicated to ticket-holders in advance of Islander Day. Due to capacity limits at venues, tickets are limited to five per family for all in-person activities.

A limited number of free art kits will be available at City Hall on a first come first serve basis beginning Tuesday, February 9 at 10:00 a.m. with a limit of two art kits per household.

For those who are not able to access a free art kit but would still like to participate, you will require:

- Acrylic paint (5 colors: red, blue, yellow, black, and white)
- 3 brushes (small, medium and a large)
- A cup for water
- Napkins
- A mixing plate for the paint.

Helmets are mandatory. Masks are not mandatory while skating on the ice, however they are recommended. Masks are mandatory at all other times while inside the building.

Anyone entering the building (even if they are not skating) must book a free ticket. Tickets may be booked beginning Wednesday, February 10 at 10:00 a.m. via the below link and there is a limit of five tickets per family.

Tickets may be booked beginning Tuesday, February 9 at 10:00 a.m. through The Guild via telephone (902-620-3333) or in person at their Box Office. Tickets are limited to five per family.

All productions are being presented by The Guild with the permission of the CPHO, and operates under its rules and guidelines. Within these guidelines, theatre seating has been limited to a maximum of 50 people. Chairs will be grouped together with 6ft. between each group. It is possible that depending on the size of your party, you may be seated with other audience members within those chairs. If you have any questions or concerns about this process, please call the Box Office number listed above.
 10:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. Basketball Skills Camp (Grades 1-3)
Eastlink Centre (46 Kensington Road)

Do you have a child in Grade 1, 2, or 3 who loves basketball, or one who is interested in trying basketball? This skills camp is the perfect opportunity for them to try out the sport, or continue developing the skills they already have! All skill levels are welcome. Registration begins Wednesday, February 10 at 10:00 a.m. via the below link.

Seating is available for parents; however, parents must register themselves if they are planning to stay and watch. Masks are required while in the building except while participating in sporting activities.

Free tickets are required and can be booked beginning Tuesday, February 9 at 10:00 a.m through the Bell Aliant Centre via telephone (902-569-4033) or in person.

Limit of five tickets per family.
Children under 7 years of age must be accompanied by an adult in the pool.

COVID-19 Rules:
- Patrons will need to arrive swim-ready as changerooms will only be available after swimming.
- Changerooms will only be available for 15 minutes after swimming.
- Patrons are asked to arrive as close to swim time as possible in order to promote social distancing in the concourse.
