The City of Charlottetown’s Capital New Year celebrations are going ahead as planned this evening, in advance of the New Year’s Eve matchup between the Island Storm and the St. John’s Edge.

The Capital New Year Family Tailgate Party, in partnership with the Island Storm, will take place tonight (Tuesday, December 31) from 5 p.m. to 6:45 p.m. at the Eastlink Centre (Trade Centre) on Kensington Road. Activities are free to attend and game tickets are not required for entry into the Family Tailgate Party.

Island Storm players and staff will be serving complimentary hot dogs, drinks and dessert to all who attend (while supplies last). In addition, there will be bouncy castles, face painting, a photo booth, and other family-friendly activities. Live music will be played by DJ Dekz. A pyrotechnic show will take place at the end of the tailgate party and kick off the Storm game. With the weather forecasted to take a turn this evening, those travelling to New Year’s Eve events are reminded to adjust their driving for the conditions and watch for pedestrians who may be walking to a venue.

After Capital New Year celebrations, all are invited to make their way to the Eastlink Centre (Arena) for the Storm game. Tickets can be purchased online at www.islandstorm.ca and through the Eastlink Centre Box Office in person or by telephone at 902-629-6625.
