Posted on 01/24/2019
The City of Charlottetown will host the 55+ Winter Games from February 18 – 23, 2019 at various venues throughout the city.

The Games were created for individuals over the age of 55. This year, the games will include events such as: snowshoeing, stick curling, bowling, darts, spin cycling, Scrabble and many more.

A new event, Euchre, has been added this year. Euchre is a card game for two to four players, usually played with the thirty-two highest cards, with the aim being to win at least three of the five tricks played.

The sport of hockey has added a new age division to help grow the number of participants. The new division is 50+ Men’s and Women’s, along with the existing 60+ and 70+ for the Men’s division.

The 55+ Games Society is excited to pilot a transportation project. Complimentary transportation will be provided from Tignish and Souris to allow participants to take part in the events on Thursday, February 21 at the Murphy’s Community Centre, which includes Auction 45 (card game), 5-pin bowling, cribbage and the celebration luncheon.
