The City of Charlottetown, in partnership with efficiencyPEI, will host an event on Tuesday, April 30 with a panel of industry professionals discussing ways to build long term energy savings and climate protection into your home.

Build a Better Home, will take place from 7 p.m. – 9 p.m. on Tuesday, April 30 at the PEI Brewing Company (96 Kensington Road). The panel of experts will include Lorrie Rand, Certified Passive Home Designer; Andy Collier, Energy Program Officer at efficiencyPEI; Mel Cheverie, Building Inspector with the City of Charlottetown’s Planning Department; and Cheryl Evans, Director of the Home Flood Protection Program from the Intact Center of Climate Adaption. The panel will provide practical information for contractors, and anyone who plans to renovate or build in the near future, with a focus on design and construction elements that build long-term energy savings and flood protection into the home.

Each panelist will offer a brief introduction and presentation, followed by discussion and an open Q+A with the audience. There will be live tweeting throughout the event and community members can participate on social media using the hashtag #BetterHomesPEI. Follow @ChtownPE and @efficiencyPEI on Twitter and #BetterHomesPEI to follow along or submit a question. Participants will receive a ballot for a chance to win a heat pump and installation, valued at up to $5,000. The draw will take place on April 30 (must be a Charlottetown resident to enter the draw).
