Flags Lowered to Half-Mast in Honour of the Passing of His Royal Highness Prince Philip

The flags at City Hall, Charlottetown Police Services Headquarters, Charlottetown Fire Stations 1 and 2, and Community Centres in West Royalty, East Royalty and Hillsborough Park, have all been lowered to half-mast to mourn the passing of His Royal Highness Prince Philip. Flags will remain at half-mast for 8 days.

“On behalf of Charlottetown City Council and residents, I wish to express my deepest condolences to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the entire Royal Family after the passing of His Royal Highness Prince Philip,” said Charlottetown Mayor Philip Brown. “His Royal Highness was a proud and devoted leader who exemplified the utmost passion and commitment to representing the crown and the commonwealth around the world. The City of Charlottetown was fortunate enough to host His Royal Highness Prince Philip and Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on two occasions, leaving residents with fond memories from their royal visit.”

While the flags were lowered on Friday, the public may notice the flags at the Charlottetown Event Grounds were not. The flags at the Charlottetown Event Grounds were not able to be lowered due to failed mechanisms.
