Posted on 01/31/2019
Get active this Islander Day by participating in free, family oriented activities in the Capital City on Monday, February 18. Go swimming at the Bell Aliant Centre or participate in a family skate at the Cody Banks Arena.

“Islander Day offers an opportunity for people to spend more time with family and friends, to have a mid-winter holiday,” said Charlottetown Mayor Philip Brown. “There are many activities that take place over the Islander Day weekend, and our Islander Family Fun Day programming offers another avenue for families to get out and have some fun together.”

Islander Family Fun Day kicks off with a free family skate at the Cody Banks Arena at 58 Maple Avenue from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. Helmets are mandatory for all participants.

There are two, free family swims taking place at the Bell Aliant Centre at 560 University Avenue from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., and 1 p.m. – 2 p.m. Free tickets are required and may be picked up in advance at the Bell Aliant Centre beginning on Monday, February 11. There is a limit of six tickets per family. Children under seven years of age must be accompanied by an adult in the pool. For more information, contact 902-569-4584 Ext. 0.

“We encourage everyone to take advantage of all of the programming available in Charlottetown on Islander Day, whether it be the Jack Frost Winterfest, Islander Family Fun Day or something else,” said Councillor Kevin Ramsay, Chair of the City’s Economic Development, Tourism and Event Management committee. “It’s a great time to get active and enjoy all winter has to offer.”
