It's Bike Week in Charlottetown, and the City and Hot 105.5 have partnered to present the Mayor's Bike Week Challenge. Mayor Philip Brown has challenged Charlottetown Councillors and residents to ride their bikes to work and school on Friday, June 21. As part of that challenge, the Mayor will cycle a pre-determined route around the city with an opportunity for the public to guess how long it will take him for a chance to win a brand new bicycle from Outer Limit Sports.

“Encouraging active transportation, including cycling, is one of many initiatives underway as part of the implementation of the City’s Integrated Community Sustainability Plan (ICSP),” said Mayor Philip Brown. “Our focus is on lowering our carbon emissions and reducing commuter traffic is one of the ways we’re trying to do that. Bike Week not only encourages active transportation, but offers fun, free activities for people to participate in. I’m looking forward to my bike ride around the city and encourage people to get their guesses in to Hot 105.5 for a chance to win a great bike from Outer Limit Sports.”

A map of the Mayor’s route, which is approximately 15.2 kilometres in length, is available on the Hot 105.5 website. Submit a guess for how long it will take the Mayor to cycle the route in minutes and seconds for a chance to win. The Mayor’s circuit will start at City Hall on Queen Street and end at the Hot 105.5 Credit Union Storefront studio on Great George Street, where the total time will be revealed, and the winner of the contest crowned.

“Hot 105.5 is thrilled to be part of the Mayor's Bike Week Challenge and to help promote awareness for green travel alternatives in our great city,” said Darcy Campbell of Hot 105.5 Morning Hot Tub.
