Municipal Police agencies of Prince Edward Island have partnered with MedicAlert Foundation Canada, becoming the first police agencies in Atlantic Canada to bring the MedicAlert Connect Protect service to their respective communities.

MedicAlert Connect Protect provides police quick 24/7 access to a subscriber’s emergency profile. This service gives police first responders, through their dispatcher, critical intelligence including recent photo, physical descriptions, wandering history, behavior management strategies such as anxiety triggers and de-escalation techniques, as well as caregiver information. The information will now be accessible to municipal police in Town of Kensington, the City of Summerside, and the City of Charlottetown.

Having access to this data through the MedicAlert identification adds an additional layer of protection for those MedicAlert subscribers living in PEI, as well as those visiting PEI as officers called to an emergency situation will have access to timely information which could save a life.

The public can sign-up for the MedicAlert service by visiting Charlottetown Police Services headquarters at 10 Kirkwood Drive today until 4 p.m., tomorrow (Wednesday, July 31) from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., and on Thursday, August 1 at the Confederation Centre of the Arts, near the library from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Those who sign up in-person will receive a discount on their first-year service plan and a MedicAlert identification.
