Back by popular demand, the Victoria Park Sunset Series will take place at the Victoria Park Cultural Pavilion from August 28 - 31. This free event will feature four nights of movies and music with the picturesque Victoria Park as the backdrop.

“We invite residents and tourists alike to enjoy this great line up of movies and music at the Cultural Pavilion in beautiful Victoria Park,” said Charlottetown Mayor Philip Brown. “As Mayor, I am proud to host annual events, such as the Victoria Park Sunset Series, in the Birthplace of Confederation.”

The Victoria Park Sunset Series will kick off on Wednesday, August 28 with an outdoor screening of “Bohemian Rhapsody” (Rated PG-13), the story of the legendary rock band Queen, co-hosted by PEERS Alliance. On Thursday, August 29, crime comedy “The Hustle” (Rated PG-13) staring Anne Hathaway and Rebel Wilson will play on the outdoor screen. On Friday, August 30, there will be a screening of Universal Pictures, “Secret Life of Pets 2” (Rated PG), a vibrant tale from a pet’s perspective of fun, family, and adventure. All movies will begin at 8:30 p.m. Blankets and folding chairs are encouraged. A blankets-only area will be identified on-site to ensure optimal viewing for all. Concessions will be available for sale on-site (cash only).

“PEERS Alliance is pleased once again for the opportunity to partner with the City of Charlottetown during the Victoria Park Sunset Series. This year we are showing “Bohemian Rhapsody”, said PEERS Alliance Executive Director, Rebekah Condon. “PEI’s Pride 2019 events focused on the history of the 2SLGBTQ+ community, we marked the 50th anniversary of the Stonewall riots, and the 25th anniversary of the first Pride March on PEI. With that in mind I can’t think of a better movie to show than the story of Freddie Mercury. Mercury was a bisexual man who died in 1991 of AIDS related complications. This is a night not to be missed and a great way to wind down the summer, hope to see you there!”

The fun continues on Saturday, August 31 with Coastal Vibes 2.0, an evening of music featuring a talented line-up of musicians at the cultural pavilion. Bring your chairs or blankets and dance moves to enjoy the free, open air concert to cap off the Victoria Park Sunset Series. A detailed schedule for Coastal Vibes 2.0 will be released within the next two weeks.

“As summer winds down, this is the perfect opportunity to take time to pause and spend time with friends and family, in a beautiful location on the last weekend before back to school,” said Councillor Ramsay, Chair of Economic Development, Tourism and Events Management.
