Posted on 09/08/2019
The three reception centres operating in the City of Charlottetown are anticipated to close at 4 p.m. this afternoon (Sunday, September 8), with a further announcement at 3 p.m.

Reception centres are located at:
• West Royalty Community Centre (1 Kirkdale Road)
• Hillsborough Park Community Centre (199 Patterson Drive)
• Confederation Centre of the Arts (145 Richmond Street)

The public is reminded that the reception centres are primarily for recharging and warming only. Food and refreshments are not provided at this time. Residents are encouraged to check-in with neighbours and loved ones. In an emergency situation, residents are reminded to call 911.

There are many tree limbs and some trees down throughout the city and crews continue to clear the roads and public right-of-way of debris. Maritime Electric is also active, working to address power outages and downed lines. The public is asked to report downed poles or lines to Maritime Electric directly via 1-800-670-1012.

Motorists are reminded that intersections ordinarily lit by traffic lights must be treated as four-way or all-way stops if the traffic lights are out. T3 Transit is operating on their regular Sunday schedule.

Residents are asked to keep all branches and downed trees on their own properties. An announcement is expected to be made on Tuesday, September 10 in regards to residential pick up of tree branches and debris around the city once a discussion is held with IWMC. Currently there are no reported street closures, but motorists are still asked to use caution as slippery conditions have been reported because of debris.
