Pre-Budget Consultation 2021-22


The City of Charlottetown invites the public to share ideas and suggestions for the municipality’s Capital and Operational budgets for the upcoming 2021-22 fiscal period.

The City’s Finance, Audit and Tendering committee has begun preparations for the budget process and, along with members of Council, is seeking input from citizens on how they would like to see money allocated on services and programs in the Capital City.

This year, all pre-budget consultation will take place online in an effort to support the Chief Public Health Office’s efforts in limiting public gatherings and contacts in order to reduce the potential for spread of COVID -19. 

Submissions can be made via the form below. For those who do not wish to submit using the online form, written submissions are also being accepted to the attention of:

Written ideas and suggestions can also be dropped off at City Hall, 199 Queen Street, with the envelope clearly marked to the attention of the Finance Manager.

All comments must be submitted by 12 p.m. (noon) on Friday, February 5. 

Personal information on the form below is collected under section 31(c) of the Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act R.S.P.E.I. 1988, c.F-15-01 as it relates to pre-budget consultation. For those utilizing the online form, some general questions have been included to solicit thoughts and ideas from Islanders. However, they are not required to make a submission. The City's previous budget documents are available below the form for those who wish to review previous fiscal information.

2020-2021 Budget Information

 

Charlottetown City Council adopted the 2020-2021 budget on April 2, 2020. The City Corporation’s 2020-2021 balanced budget was $59.7 million and the Water and Sewer Utility budget was also balanced with expenditures at $14.3 million.

Charlottetown City Council adopted the 2020-21 Capital budget on February 6, 2020, in the amount of $26.06 million. The $26.06 million for capital projects included $4.39 million for the Water and Sewer Utility and $21.67 million for the City corporation. During the budget address, it was announced that an additional $1-million would be added to the Capital budget for paving and street repairs through Gas Tax Funding.
