Posted on 06/19/2024
With the 2024 summer festival and event season now underway, the City of Charlottetown would like to notify the public of two events taking place between June 20 and 23 which may cause minor travel disruptions in Downtown Charlottetown.

Designed as a celebration of health and wellness and drawing on the therapeutic nature of PEI, the Island Tides Yoga and Wellness Festival will be returning to Charlottetown from June 20 to 23. Motorists are asked to proceed with caution or find alternate routes of travel during the following Island Tides’ events:

• The 5K Rainbow Run will take place on Saturday, June 22 at 8 a.m. starting and ending at Rochford Square and travelling through Victoria Park into Brighton via Kent Street and Queen Elizabeth Drive.
• A Silent Disco will be held on Saturday, June 22 at 8 p.m. starting at Upstreet Craft Beer Corner on Kent Street. The group will proceed along a 3-kilometre loop of the downtown core and will be escorted by Charlottetown Police Services. Motorists are asked to proceed with increased caution as participants will be wearing headphones and may have their hearing obstructed.

The DiverseCity Multicultural Festival, the Island’s largest celebration of diversity, is set to return to Charlottetown on Sunday, June 23 from 12-8 p.m. at their new location in Confederation Landing. Motorists are asked to take caution when passing the area or to seek alternate routes during the event, as the volume of pedestrian traffic is expected to be higher than normal.

The City of Charlottetown apologizes for any inconveniences these events may cause and thanks the public for their patience and cooperation.
