The City recently added two new posters of veterans to the Charlottetown Veterans Bus Shelter Project
The City recently added two new posters of veterans to the Charlottetown Veterans Bus Shelter Project, an annual initiative to honour residents who served their country in the military.
“We are thrilled to include these two heroes in this remarkable project which aims to publicly honour our veterans who gave so much for their country,” said Mayor Philip Brown. “Through this initiative, we are reminded that these people who served were our friends, family and neighbours. We hope this project continues to inspire the public to pause and reflect on their service and sacrifice.”
The two veterans, Captain James P. DeCoste and Master Corporal John D.G. McInnis, have been added to the original collection of six veterans featured on posters placed on eight bus shelters around the city. Each poster includes photos of the veteran, their medals and their branch of service.
“The Prince Edward Island Regiment Museum is excited to continue this important project in partnership with the City of Charlottetown and T3 Transit as we work to share the stories of Island veterans,” said Captain Greg Gallant, Museum Curator. “We are thrilled with the two new additions and look forward to continuing to honour more individuals and stories in the years ahead.”
The posters will remain in place until Friday, Nov. 15 and can be viewed at the following bus shelter locations:
• Master Corporal John D.G. McInnis - Northridge Parkway near Westcomb Crescent
• Captain James P. DeCoste - North River Road at Belvedere Avenue (the east side)
• Lieutenant Commander Robert C. MacMillan - Boulder Park (Grafton Street, Queen Square)
• Captain Frederick T. Peters - 171 Great George St. (The Atlantic Technology Centre)
