Students Encouraged to Apply for David ‘Eli’ MacEachern Annual Bursary

The City of Charlottetown is now accepting applications for the 28th Annual David ‘Eli’ MacEachern Bursary. This $1,000 bursary is open to students graduating in spring 2025 from Charlottetown Rural High School, Colonel Gray High School or École François-Buote.

The bursary was established in 1997 in recognition of Prince Edward Islands first Olympic Gold Medalist. Born in Charlottetown, David ‘Eli’ MacEachern’s hard work and dedication helped him achieve his dream – to be the best in the world.

Applicants must meet the following criteria:
• Resident of Charlottetown, please include home address in application.
• Dedicated to excellence in sport during high school years.
• A competitor with honour, fairness, sportsmanship and appreciation of others.
• Passionate about life, learning and excellence.
• Continuing their education and development in their chosen field of sport.

The application deadline is 4 p.m. on Friday, May 9, 2025.

To apply, students must write a short essay detailing how they meet the criteria and send to: City of Charlottetown, PO Box 98, Charlottetown, PE, C1A 7K2 Attention: Jackie McKinnon.
