Fire Prevention Week

Charlottetown Fire Prevention Week
Posted on 10/06/2023
Charlottetown Fire Prevention Week is happening Oct. 8-14 and this year’s theme is “Cooking safety starts with you. Pay attention to fire prevention.”

The intent of this year’s Fire Prevention Week is to educate the community about simple yet important actions they can take to keep themselves and those around them safer while cooking. Cooking fires are the leading cause of home fires and unattended cooking can lead to fires, injuries, and potentially worse.

Luckily, there are basic preventative actions residents can take to prevent most cooking fires and burns and help keep their families safe. The public is invited to learn more at the Fire Prevention Week kickoff event that will take place on Saturday, Oct. 7 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at the Home Depot parking lot (60 Buchanan Dr).

Fire Department members and equipment will be on scene with many of our neighboring department partners. There will be fire prevention exhibits and information booths, a sprinklered room fire demonstration, apparatus and equipment tours, miniature fire truck rides for children and a petting zoo on site. Charlottetown Fire will also have members and equipment at the Charlottetown Kent Store (65 Walsh Rd.) during the same time.
