Charlottetown has wrapped up an exhilarating week as host city of the Grand Slam of Curling’s HearingLife Tour Challenge, the inaugural event of the 2024-25 Grand Slam of Curling season.

With strong attendance and a palpable sense of excitement at Bell Aliant Centre, the Grand Slam of Curling made a significant mark on the City. The event delivered an impressive shoulder season economic impact of over $3 million, benefitting local businesses and boosting the region’s economy, while also leaving a financial legacy for curling programs on P.E.I.

“Hosting the Grand Slam of Curling’s HearingLife Tour Challenge has been an unforgettable experience for Charlottetown,” said Mayor Philip Brown. “The high level of competition, paired with our community's enthusiastic support, provided thrilling matches that kept fans on the edge of their seats. This event has not only boosted our economy and showcased our city’s passion for curling, but also demonstrated why Charlottetown is an award-winning and highly ranked host city for sporting events.”

In addition to the economic impact locally, the Grand Slam’s broadcast and streaming partnerships also provided global exposure for Charlottetown, reaching over two million viewers domestically on Sportsnet, along with a worldwide webcast. Curling fans across Canada enjoyed more than 27 hours of live broadcast, further promoting Charlottetown as a premier destination for hosting sporting events.

The Grand Slam of Curling’s HearingLife Tour Challenge featured 64 of the world’s top-ranked men’s and women’s curling teams, showcasing top talent in the sport including Olympic medalists and World Champions, and drawing incredible crowds to Charlottetown’s Bell Aliant Centre.
