Public Meeting on City’s Official Plan Set for Feb. 13
City residents, businesses and other stakeholders will have their final opportunity to discuss the latest draft of the City’s Official Plan next month.
A public meeting will be held on Feb. 13 at 5 p.m. at the Rodd Charlottetown, 75 Kent Street. The City’s Official Plan establishes general land use planning policies and ensures that growth is co-ordinated and meets the needs of the community.
“This public meeting is an important step in shaping how our city grows,” said Mayor Philip Brown. “Our Official Plan is more than a policy document – it’s a vision for Charlottetown’s future. We want to ensure that it will shape the City’s development and preserve its unique character.”
In 2022, the City initiated a review of its current plan which was adopted in 2005. The process included three previous phases of public engagement and consultation. The public meeting in February will allow residents and businesses to confirm the direction of the latest draft.
“Public input is essential to ensuring our plan reflects the needs and aspirations of the people who live, work and play in Charlottetown,” said Deputy Mayor Alanna Jankov, Chair of the Planning and Heritage Committee. “This public meeting is an opportunity for us to present what we’ve heard throughout the process and ensure the plan aligns with what our residents and businesses envision before moving forward.”
The meeting will include a presentation giving an overview of the draft plan and opportunities for questions from attendees.
In advance of the public meeting, residents and businesses can view the latest draft of the plan at

It’s expected the final draft will proceed to City Council later this spring to be approved.
