City Calling Artists for New Public Art Project

City Issues Call for Artists for New Public Art Project
Posted on 10/19/2024
The City of Charlottetown invites P.E.I.-based artists and creatives to apply for a paid public art opportunity to have their original art featured on traffic control cabinets around Charlottetown.

Four artists will be selected through a single-stage competition process to have their work reproduced on a vinyl wrap and installed on a traffic control panel in Charlottetown for up to five years.

There is no theme for this call. The project aims to add more public art to the City of Charlottetown and provide a paid artist opportunity for artists to contribute to the vitality and attractiveness of intersections where people walk, bike, roll, drive, or take transit throughout the city.

Artists selected will be paid $1,500 (plus HST if applicable) for this commission and will collaborate with a city-led project team to create new original artwork or refine existing artwork. The project team will provide technical support as needed, and the city will cover printing costs and the installation of the vinyl wrap.

Visit charlottetown.ca/publicart to apply and to learn more about the project.

The deadline for submissions is Tuesday, Nov. 22 at midnight.
