Accessibility and Inclusion Awards Nomination Form

The City of Charlottetown and the Civic Board for Persons with Disabilities invite nominations for the annual Accessibility and Inclusion Awards which are awarded to individuals, groups or businesses that have made a significant effort or contribution to improving inclusion and accessibility for people with disabilities within Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. 

Organizations eligible for nomination include non-profit organizations, public groups or service clubs, educational institutions, hospitals, government departments, unions, professional and trade associations, media organizations, and public or private corporations and similar organizations located in the Capital City. Previous award recipients are not eligible. 

 

The Accessibility and Inclusion Awards will recognize individuals and organizations that demonstrate leadership and commitment to enhancing accessibility, inclusion, universality and the elimination of barriers that may impede a person’s full participation in community life in the City of Charlottetown.

 


The individual, group or business being nominated (Nominee) must fit the following criteria:

  • Has made an outstanding contribution to improving accessibility in one of the following areas:

      accessibility, arts, culture, commercial/retail, education, employment, housing/accommodation,

    recreation/entertainment, transportation

  • Has improved accessibility for persons with one or more of the following types of disability: 

      agility, developmental/mental illness, hearing, mobility, seeing, speaking

  • Has demonstrated a commitment to increase accessibility above and beyond what law or regulation requires.
  • Provided service for residents and visitors to the City of Charlottetown

Nominations and/or self-nominations may be made by any citizen or group willing to provide evidence in support of the nominee's commitments and contributions. Any citizen or group wishing to re-submit or re-nominate an individual, group or business that was not selected for an award in a previous year may do so by completing an updated nomination form.

Nominations close on Monday September 30, 2024.
