The City of Charlottetown is developing a strategy to better understand how parking is meeting the city’s needs and how it can be more effectively managed.
The Parking Strategy will explore the availability and cost of parking, as well as competing needs for curb space. Parking needs in residential neighbourhoods, accessible parking, winter parking regulations, enforcement, parking requirements for new developments and parking management technologies will also be addressed in the strategy.
“As our city continues to grow, it is essential to understand how well the supply and management of parking is meeting the needs of those who rely on it,” said Councillor Kevin Ramsay, Chair of the City’s Public Works Committee. “We want to hear from residents how the City can better manage parking as a municipal service today and into the future.”
Public engagement on the Parking Strategy will kick-off with a
Community Open House on
Thursday, April 3, 2025, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Charlottetown Library and Learning Centre Rotary Auditorium, located at 97 Queen St. Attendees will have an opportunity to share their views on how parking in the city can better meet their needs. An
online feedback form is also available for residents to provide input.
The Community Open House is happening in conjunction with an engagement on the City’s
Active Transportation Plan. Attendees will have an opportunity to learn and provide feedback on both plans.
Residents are encouraged to learn more about the City’s
Parking Strategy and to contact
[email protected] with questions.
Development of the Parking Strategy aligns with the City’s strategic direction of improving public infrastructure and building a more livable community.
